The vortex-wave system with gyroscopic effects

چکیده

In this paper, we study the well-posedness for a coupled PDE/ODE system describing interaction of several massive point vortices moving within vorticity backgound in 2D ideal incompressible fluid. The points are driven by velocity induced background vorticity, other vortices, and Kutta-Joukowski-type lift force creating an additional gyroscopic effect. This reduces to so-called vortex-wave system, introduced Marchioro Pulvirenti, when massless. On one hand, establish existence weak solution before first collision. We show moreover that is transported flow associated total field. On uniqueness case where initially constant neighborhood vortices. When all densities have same sign, no collision occurs finite time our results then global time. Our proofs strongly rely on definition suitable energy functional.

A 2d spray model with gyroscopic effects

In this paper we introduce a PDE system which aims at describing the dynamics of a dispersed phase of particles moving into an incompressible perfect fluid, in two space dimensions. The system couples a Vlasov-type equation and an Euler-type equation: the fluid acts on the dispersed phase through a gyroscopic force whereas the latter contributes to the vorticity of the former. First we give a D...

Uniqueness for the Vortex-Wave System When the Vorticity Is Constant Near the Point Vortex

which means that ω is constant along the characteristics. In the general case of a vorticity ω ∈ L (R, L ∩ L(R)), these computations may be rigorously justified, so that the Eulerian formulation (1.1) and the Lagrangian one (1.2), (1.3) turn out to be equivalent. Since equation (1.1) governs the evolution of the vorticity ω, it is natural to express the velocity v in terms of ω. This can be don...

Sound Wave in Vortex with Sink

Using Komar’s definition, we give expressions for the mass and angular momentum of a rotating acoustic black hole. We show that the mass and angular momentum so defined, obey the equilibrium version of the first law of Black Hole thermodynamics. We also show that when a phonon passes by a vortex with a sink, its trajectory is bent. The angle of bending of the sound wave to leading order is quad...

Wave - vortex dynamics

Numerical studies of two-dimensional turbulence show the importance of localised structures, both in the small scales where intermittent transfers occur and in the large scales dominated by coherent vortices. This work is an attempt to establish a more appropriate theoretical framework than the usual Fourier representation. We present a dual representation, mixing continuous field and point vor...

Wave capture and wave–vortex duality

New and unexpected results are presented regarding the nonlinear interactions between a wavepacket and a vortical mean flow, with an eye towards internal wave dynamics in the atmosphere and oceans and the problem of ‘missing forces’ in atmospheric gravity-wave parametrizations. The present results centre around a prewave-breaking scenario termed ‘wave capture’, which differs significantly from ...
